Habitat for Humanity Brat Bash
Originally scheduled for May 15 and rained out, the Brat Bash has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 5, 2011, from 2-6 pm at the Kirchoff Park North Shelter. Parking will be available at Parkview Elementary School. $8 per person for bratwurst and beverages or $5 per person if you bring a side dish or dessert to share with the crowd.
Portage Boys & Girls Club Torch Club Car Wash & Garage Sale
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County announced that members of the Portage Club’s Torch Club will be hosting a car wash and garage sale on Saturday, June 4th from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Portage Boys & Girls Club with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Support the American Cancer Society at Bark for Life
Bring your dogs out to the Chesterton Duneland Resale on Sunday, June 5, 2011 for the "Bark for Life" from 1-4 pm. Take your dog for a one mile stroll and receive your American Cancer Society bandana.
South Shore Arts 18th Annual Beaux Arts Ball
It's a PARTY You Won't Want to Miss! Celebrating our 75th Anniversary. Black Tie, Cocktails, Dinner, Dancing, Live and Silent Auctions Proceeds benefit the everykid programs which this year provided art education opportunities for over 20,000 children!
Safe Sitter® Classes
The Portage Kiwanis Club in partnership with the Portage Fire Department will offer a Safe Sitter® class for girls and boys age 11 and up on June 4th, 2011, from 9 am – 4 pm at the Portage Fire Department on Swanson Rd.
Downtown Throwdown Poetry Slam
Poets are invited to strut their stuff in friendly competition at Blackbird Café in Valparaiso on Friday, June 3 at 7pm. All poets and poetry fans are welcome at this free event, but there are only fifteen slots for readers, so sign up early.
Walk for Recovery
Once again, Moraine House will be collaboration with Alice's House and Respite House in the 2011 annual Walk for Recovery. The common goal of all three participating non-profit Agencies is to address a disease rampant in our country and our nation. Addiction affects each and every one of our lives; it impacts our families, our schools, and our work environments.
Harley Southpoint Cruise-In
The South Point Cruise In car show, now with music from bands like Guns and Hoses, food from Suzie's Cafe and the beer garden from Leroy's, will be going on every Friday night from 6-9 pm through September 30th. It's hosted at Harley Davidson in Valpo on Route 30, so don't miss your chance to catch the show. Come see the entertainment and the cars, or bring your own to showcase for all to see, either way, it's free for everyone!
Frost/Nixon at Chicago Street Theatre
