14th Annual Be Kind to Animals
Join the Porter County Animal Shelter on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Porter County Expo Center, for a day of awareness with your community’s animal welfare associates! Come meet your local shelters and rescue organizations with animals on site in need of loving homes available for adoption.

Bridal Block Party
For brides looking for full wedding packages, wanting the best personalized service this area has to offer, this is an event not to be missed. The Bridal Block Party will showcase and allow samplings of and special offers and discounts for Valparaiso vendors.

National Rebuilding Day
Rebuilding Together Portage provides assistance to people who own their own home but who, because of physical limitation or income, are not able to cover the costs of home repair. Typically these individuals have a disability and/or are elderly, but low-income families and non-profit facilities such as schools, shelters and daycare centers are also included.

Bingo"Matcutting 101"
Artist Alan Vandever will demonstrate the easy way to cut mats for your artwork. Bring some works that need to be matted, and a mat cutter if you have one.

Black Tie Bingo
You are cordially invited to The Caring Place's Annual Fund Raising Gala Black Tie Bingo on Friday, April 29, 2011. The evening will feature registration and cocktails at 6 pm, dinner and dessert at 7 pm, followed by live entertainment by The Bartlett Trio. Bingo and a silent auction will be held at 8 pm.

March of Dimes
“On Saturday, April 30th in Valparaiso and Sunday, May 1st in Highland, we invite all families and local businesses to join us,” said Matt Valuckis, March of Dimes Board Chair. "Last year, we had nearly 2,000 people participate in March for Babies and we are looking forward to an even bigger turnout this year for this family-friendly day. Our hope is one day all babies will be born healthy.”

Craft Night - "It's a Revolution!"

Bound to Blossom 5K Run/Walk
Join the Portage Township YMCA in their “Bound to Blossom” 5K Fun Run/Walk to be held on Sunday, May 1, 2011. The race course will begin at the Portage Township YMCA on the “Rails to Trails” and wind through a Portage subdivision back on the “Rails to Trails” and end at the YMCA.

1st-Brigade-Band-2Concert Association Brings Wisconsin Historical Band to Next Concert
The Concert Association of Valparaiso, in collaboration with the Valparaiso High School Band program, is presenting a concert of the 1st Brigade Band from Wisconsin on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at 2:00 pm in the VHS Auditorium.

Meditate and Reflect at Brincka Cross Gardens
On Sunday, May 1, 2011, from 1 to 4 pm, come experience an afternoon of reflection that includes a guided walk, seated meditation, gentle yoga, stretching and reflective writing. This retreat is led by a certified yoga instructor who is also an experienced meditation guide, seasoned writer and nature lover.
