10 Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana: CatWalk for Paws, Easter Open House, and an Acoustic Evening

This weekend a charity fashion show, Easter open house, acoustic concert, a dance camp, an Easter breakfast, wine tasting, museum opening, improv performance, basketball championships, business seminar, and more are all on tap for a fun weekend in Northwest Indiana!

Join the Business Law Society and the Sports and Entertainment Law Association of Valparaiso University for a night of fun and fashion to support Lakeshore PAWS. The third annual Catwalk for the Cause Charity Fashion Show will feature spring 2013 styles for men and women—including designer lines BCBG, MAX AZRIA, Brooks Brothers and Buckle. Valparaiso law students will strut their stuff in cocktail dresses, business suits and jeans and tops, as well as shoes, purses and sunglasses.

The Opportunity Enterprises Simply Amazing Market will host an Easter Open House on Saturday, March 23 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Visitors will be able to enjoy free photos with the Easter Bunny and product samples. Guests can also purchase a variety of pre-made Easter baskets, chocolate bunnies, and other Easter treats.

An Acoustic Evening with Gary Louris
Imagine Music Productions, LLC will bring Gary Louris of the Jayhawks to the Memorial Opera House on Saturday, March 23. Over the last three decades, singer, songwriter and guitarist Gary Louris has built a deeply compelling body of music whose artistry and integrity has won the loyalty of an international audience and the respect of both critics and his peers. Best known for his seminal work with The Jayhawks, Louris is one of the most acclaimed musicians to come out of Minnesota’s teaming rock scene.

Marquette Catholic High School to Host Cheer & Dance Camp
On Saturday, March 23, 2013, Marquette Catholic High School is hosting a cheer and camp at the School Student Center. The camp is open to all children from pre-schoolers through 8th graders. Camp-goers will receive a free camp t-shirt and should pack a sack lunch with a drink.

Portage Kiwanis Club Hosts Easter Breakfast
The Portage Kiwanis Club will offer an All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 23rd in the Oakwood Hall of Woodland Park. A photographer will be on hand to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. At 10:00 am children will be able to participate in a FREE Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by Real Life Community Church.

Tryon Farm Wine Tasting
Tryon Farm Institute invites you to Shady Creek Winery for a unique wine tasting by candlelight, featuring pairings of local meats and cheese. Admission is $25 ($30 at the door) and covers all tastings and pairings plus three glasses of wine.

On March 24th, the Museum will open it’s newest featured exhibit, We are Porter County and everyone is invited. The opening reception for both exhibits is open to the public. It will be generously catered by Don Quijote and held at the museum, March 24 from 1-4pm.

The Purdue University North Central student improv club, The Ranting Llamas, will perform on March 22 at 8 p.m. at the Mainstreet Theatre. The Ranting Llamas comedy will be followed by a performance by comedian Tom Osborn, locally known as Comic Ozzie and his comedic friends.

The Lutheran Basketball Association of America will be hosting their annual championship tournament in Valparaiso March 22 through March 24. The event, which was first hosted in Valparaiso in 1971, brings 64 teams comprised of boys and girls in middle school from all over the nation to battle on the basketball courts for top honors.
