There are many celebrations taking place this Independence Day weekend, including parades, fireworks, and BBQ! We’ve compiled a list to help you stay in the loop of all that’s going on. The fun will last all weekend long- make sure you don’t miss a minute!

"It's In Our Nature" Opening Reception
Gregg Hertzlieb is an artist who works primarily in watercolor and pen and ink. In this exhibition, Hertzlieb showcases his original drawings, painted flower pots, note cards, and posters.

Celebrate Independence Day with Blues and BBQ At The Barn
Kick off the July 4th holiday weekend with a BBQ Rib Cook-Off and Blues Festival at the Barn! On July 2, 2011, County Line Orchard will open the barn doors at 1:00 pm for this family friendly event, featuring five music performances, kids corral with inflatables, and a fireworks presentation!

Sunset Hill Farm County Park (Route 6 and Meridian Rd.) will be rockin' and rollin' with a live music extravaganza and entertainment for the whole family from 10 a.m. to dusk and beyond on Saturday, July 2nd. An awesome fireworks display will culminate a perfect day.

7 Artists Send a Message in New Exhibit
Art is a conversation between its creator and the viewer. And like all conversations, some are more provocative than others. Such is the case with Text Messages, opening Friday, July 1st at Lubeznik Center for the Arts in Michigan City. While the seven artists featured in the exhibition all use language, text or typography to convey meaning, each does so in very different ways.

Lakeshore PAWS Adoption Event
Lakeshore PAWS is hosting its next adoption event Friday, July 1, at the Harley Davidson in Valparaiso, with the goal of matching puppies and dogs from local shelters with loving owners. Adorable puppies and dogs of assorted breeds will be available for adoption from 4 to 9 p.m. at Harley Davidson in Valparaiso (1151 Morthland Dr.).
