10 Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana: Classic Car Show, Unity Day, Bicycle Rodeo, and K-9 Fundraiser

Showcase Your Classic Car
Due to the rain last week, the Porter County Career and Technical Center's Classic Car Show has been rescheduled for May 21! Come support the Scholarship Fund and Special Olympics at the Career Center's location in Valpo, enter your classic car into the competition for only $15! Free for spectators!

Valparaiso Diversity Network Association Unity Day Celebration
Celebrate the diverse mix of races, cultures and backgrounds at the Courthouse Square in Valpo on May 21. Have a picnic on the lawn, listen to local bands, view original art from local artists, and share your stories of the importance of inclusion in the community.

Bicycle Rodeo Safety Day
The Portage Fire Department is hosting a Safety Day to promote bicycle and general safety. Held at Willowcreek Middle School on May 21, the first 100 kids will receive free bicycle helmets. Ride through a safety course, learn the rules of the road, and receive a maintenance check for your bicycle.

VPD-Todd-K9K-9 Fundraiser at Culver's
Culver's of Valparaiso is hosting their annual K-9 Fundraiser on May 21. Demonstrations from the Valparaiso K-9 unit will be held, and the bike patrol officers along with some patrol cars will be on hand as well. Donations will be collected and 10% of the sales will go to the K-9 unit!

Pet Parade
The Portage Youth Commission is hosting their annual Pet Parade on May 21. Awards will be given in various categories and there will also be a talent show. Various pet organizations will be on hand with information for pet owners.

Rummage Sale
The Valparaiso Sunrise Kiwanis is hosting a Rummage Sale on May 21 at Northview Elementary. Lots of items for sale and still room for more donations!

Sunday in the Park
Join the Valparaiso Parks Foundation at Butterfield Pavilion on May 22 as they celebrate volunteers and supporters of the Parks. This year's honorees are Steward and Kathryn McMillan, along with volunteers John Frank, Leo Frey, and Chuck and Phyllis Madison.

4th Annual Dachshund Derby
The Canine Country Club is partnering with Relay for Life in the Dachshund Derby- all proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society.

Mother and Son Dance
portage-pet-paradeThe Portage Parks Department is hosting a Mother/Son Dance at Woodland Park on Friday, May 20. $35 per couple, $17 for each additional child.

Tailgate for Turner Benefit
Come to the Elks on May 21, 2011, to help support our long-time member, Doug Turner. Doug has been diagnosed with very serious health issues and will require extensive treatment. Dinner will be served and raffles, tip boards, and a 50/50 will be available.
