Each week we will be bringing you 10 fun things to do in Northwest Indiana over the weekend, so you are never without something to do! This weekend a color run, a European market, a night at the museum, a community yard sale, a jazzfest, jewelry shows, a dancing dinner show, theatrical production, cinco de mayo party, and more are all on tap for a fun weekend in Northwest Indiana!
A 5K of Color Explosion
Run for a cause on May 4th with Valparaiso University's SALT Color For A Cause 5K! Wear white and get ready to be blasted with colored powder! The race begins at 10:00 am. On the day of the race, registration will open up at 9:00 am. With registration, each person will receive sunglasses, Valpo Velvet Ice Cream, and their name entered into a raffle for numerous prizes.

The Duneland Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the opening of the 2013 Season of Chesterton’s European Market. Each weekend this season, the Market will boast more than 90 merchants, live musical performances from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, fresh food served on-site throughout the day and plenty of opportunities to enjoy gatherings with friends and family at picnic tables in nearby Thomas Centennial Park.
Night at the Museum
The La Porte County Historical Society Museum is again hosting their ever- popular “Night at the Museum” event! “Night at the Museum” is an after-hours event for children in grades 3 to 8. Various fun programs are being planned such as a scavenger hunt, craft project, presentations involving the inside secrets of the courthouse, Hoosiers in Sports, and of course PIZZA!
Donated Items Needed for Community Yard Sale
Vale Park Animal Hospital is hosting a Community Yard Sale on Sunday, May 5th, from 10 am to 3 pm, on the front lawn of the hospital! All proceeds from the sale benefit the American Cancer Society. If you would like to donate items for the yard sale, please drop off donated items at Vale Park Animal Hospital beginning Friday morning, May 3rd.
24th Annual La Porte JazzFest is May 3
The La Porte High School Jazz Bands will present their 24th annual "JazzFest" on Friday, May 3, at 7:00 PM in the LaPorte High School Auditorium. Performances will feature all LPCSC Jazz Bands with six professional guest artists.
Jewelry, Gems, and More at Woodland Park
The Portage Parks Department presents a Jewelry, Gem, and more show on Saturday, May 4th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The show features jewelry vendors, body wraps, candy, facials, chair massages, make-up, designer hand bags, and much more.
Stella and Dot Jewelry Party

Dine Amongst Dancing at Don Quijote
Come out to Don Quijote Restaurante on Sunday, May 5th, for dinner and a show! The restaurant will once again present a Flamenco show to diners at 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm.
Love, Death and Madness: Four Theatrical Acts
Love, Death and Madness is a satirical look at life from four different points of view. Three of the short plays were written by La Lumiere students. The fourth act is an adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Act V by William Shakespeare.
Community Invited to Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration
The community is invited to experience food, fun, music and dancing at the annual Gloria de Cinco De Mayo event on Sunday, May 5th. The afternoon will begin with authentic home-cooked Mexican cuisine prepared by the families of the Gloria Dei mission. After lunch, the Gloria de Hispanic folkloric dance group will delight the audience with their Mexican dances and traditional costumes.
