Elvis Presley’s Original Drummer to be Guest at Annual Elvis Fest
D J Fontana, Elvis Presley’s original drummer and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, will be special guest at the 19th annual event being held October 14 – 16, 2011 at Woodland Park. The Elvis FANtasy Fest is a fund raiser for the Porter County Special Olympics and a dream weekend for anyone who enjoys the music of Elvis Presley, collects Elvis memorabilia or would like to join a local fan club.

Kibble Kitchen Puppy Paws and Kitty Claws Open House
On Saturday October 15, 2011 from Noon-4:00 pm the Kibble Kitchen pet pantry will be hosting our 1st Puppy Paws & Kitty Claws fall open house. The open house is being held in hopes of spreading the word about the pantry and the service we provide to Porter County families. Currently the pantry is assisting over 90 clients and 200 pets including a bird. Most of the families in need are from the Portage and Valparaiso area, but some travel as far as from Hebron to receive assistance.

Hundreds Fight Breast Cancer on Sunday
The American Cancer Society invites the community to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, the organization’s national crusade to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. More than 700 walkers are expected to gather to celebrate survivorship, offer hope and help make breast cancer a thing of the past.

South Shore Orchestra to Bring Exotic Overtones From Hovhaness
You are invited to an evening of exotic music performed by the sixty plus community members of South Shore Orchestra, which will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of American Armenian/Scottish composer Alan Hovhaness. This will be the second concert of SSO’s Global Expressions season and the music once again, promises to be stunning, diverse and designed to enlighten and entertain the audience with cultural and historical insights through intriguing sounds and beautiful music orchestration.

British Comedy ‘Butler’ Opens Chicago Street’s 57th Season
If you’re shopping for a play that combines comedy with sexuality, look no further than “What the Butler Saw,” opening Oct. 14 at Chicago Street Theatre. This Joe Orton adult farce “is the perfect opener for us,” says Director Lisa Formosa-Parmigiano. “It’s funny and written extremely well; it combines humor with subtle politics and, of course, makes us take a look at ourselves.”

Enjoy Dinner and Live Flamenco at Don Quijote

Sunrise Kiwanis to Host 5K Ramble
The Sunrise Kiwanis Valparaiso Morning Club is hosting a 5K Ramble on Saturday, October 15, 2011. Held at Sunset Hill County Park, located on Meridian and Route 6 in Valparaiso, all age groups are welcome. Sunrise Kiwanis would like to promote "Healthy Kids" by including categories which will feature parents running/walking with their children.

Kids Resale Event to be Held October 15
The 9th annual Mothers & More Kids Closet resale will be held on Saturday, October 15th, 2011. The event is open to the general public, offers over 35 tables of gently worn children’s and baby clothing, as well as strollers, high chairs, cribs, etc. There will also be a bake a bake sale as well to benefit the Porter County chapter of Mothers & More.

South Haven Lions Club Italian Buffet Dinner
The South Haven Lions Club is sponsoring its annual Italian Buffet fundraiser on Saturday, October 15. he meal includes Spaghetti, Meatballs, Lasagna, Seafood Alfredo, Pizza & Salad. Proceeds will provide for Christmas gifts for less fortunate children in our community.
