Central Park Plaza Market Opens This Saturday
The Central Park Plaza Market will open on Saturday, June 2, 2012 and will be open every Tuesday and Saturday through October from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees will enjoy handmade items, farm fresh produce, beautiful plants and flowers, artisan breads, local honey and much more. The first 1000 visitors to visit the VCFE table will receive a free reusable market tote.

Lakeshore PAWS to Participate in Pet Rescue and Animal Adoption Day
Join Lakeshore PAWS and other local shelters, rescues, and pet vendors as they highlight the benefits of animal adoption during Pet Rescue and Animal Adoption Day on Sunday, June 3. Hosted by the Porter County Wildlife Management Advisory Board, the day features fun for the whole family—including a pet blessing, a pet walk, contests, police K-9 demos, the chance to meet exotic animals, a silent auction, games, food, and more.

June First Friday All About Art in Downtown Michigan City
The June First Friday Artwalk is all about art this month, featuring a mix of jewelry, eclectic and fine art. See, taste, and enjoy all of the offerings at the businesses lining the Uptown Arts District. See the fine works at the Framing Station, Lakeside Gallery West, the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, Threadbenders Quilt Shop, the Southern Shore Art Association and many more. Taste the Tiramisu cupcakes at Arturo’s Baked Goods, delectable cake pops at Urban Soles, and finish with dinner at Maxine’s or Ryan’s Irish Pub.

Farmer's Market Returns June 3
The Portage Community Farmer's Market returns to Founders' Square Park this June! Shop local every Sunday, June 3rd through September 30th. At the market, you can expect to see organic produce, honey, flowers, homemade bread, herbs, grilled meats, Mexican cuisine, bamboo plants, organic cleaning supplies, homemade soaps and more! A free cruise-in car event will also be held on certain Sundays, including this Sunday, June 3.

The Taste of Downtown Celebrates Food, Music and Fun!
The Valpo Dining Group will fill downtown with live music and fantastic food on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 12-9pm. Enjoy the beer garden and local cuisine throughout the day in Central Park Plaza from eight downtown restaurants including: Bistro 157, Bon Femme Café, Don Quijote, Margaritas, Paparazzi, Pikk’s Tavern and Silver Spoon & The Valley.

Brother of All Continues at Chicago Street
Brother of All Directors Traci Brant and Jonni Pera have the pleasure, but also the pressure, of producing an original work by Chicago Street Theatre's Resident Playwright Jim Henry. Henry's play focuses on Leonard Street (Josh Eggleston), a young man who is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation as a result of a shocking family tragedy. During his session with Dr. Albert (Dave Pera), the events of Leonard's life and his Cherokee heritage unfold.

Steiner Homes Participating in Parade of Homes
Mark your calendars because the Parade of Homes is coming up! From June 2nd through June 10th you can tour our two parade homes, the Valparaiso model home and our St. John home. The Parade of Homes is put on by the Home Builders Association and includes builders from all over Lake and Porter County in Indiana.

Region Ride to Celebrate National Trails Day
In celebration of National Trails Day, South Shore Trails (SST) and the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) will be hosting their annual Region Ride on Saturday, June 2nd. The ride will commence at Oak Ridge County Park, and continue to Portage's Lakefront Park and Riverwalk.

Leon's Triathlon Highlights Region
More than 750 participants will compete in the “world’s fastest triathlon” on Sunday, June 3th at 8am in Hammond, Indiana. Leon’s Triathlon will take place at Wolf Lake Park and includes a 1.5K swim; 40K bike and 10K run. The event will be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet affiliates across the nation.

American Cancer Society Plans Unique Fundraiser for Dogs, Owners
Bark For Life adds a twist to the Society’s traditional Relay For Life, serving as a fundraising activity to honor the care-giving qualities of canine companions while supporting the mission of the American Cancer Society. This noncompetitive walk is planned for June 2, 2012 at Canine Country Club and will include an opening ceremony at 10:00am. The walk will take place from 10:00am-12:00pm and open play from 12:00pm-3:00pm.
