Ah, the weekends... They never come quick enough and when they get here they fly by, leaving us with Monday. This means that when 5pm hits on Friday, we have to have as much fun as we can until our heads hit our respective pillows on Sunday night. Have a "Leisure Lunch" at Shady Creek Winery
Shady Creek offers what they call “Leisure Lunch”. More than just a meal, Leisure Lunch is an experience that provides diners with great food in a comfortable and welcoming environment.

Portage on the Move - Fitness Friday
If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you. Join your neighbors and friends in a walk, run, bike ride or family stroll on a 5k course starting and ending on the walking trail behind the Portage Township YMCA. No timing - not competitive. This event is just for fun. 

Bret Michaels at Blue Chip
Legendary rocker Bret Michaels brings rock hits and hot ballads to Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa, Michigan City, Indiana, on Saturday, May 21 at 8 pm in the Stardust Event Center in his “The Party Starts Now” 2016 World Tour. 

Spring Out to Sunset Festival
This year, the festival will take place on Saturday, May 21st from 12pm to 4pm at Sunset Hill Farm County Park in Valparaiso. The day will be filled with family friendly activities such as a vintage baseball game (1 p.m.), inflatables, LaserBall NWI, pony rides, meet the animals, wagon rides, archery, crafts, live music and much, much more. 

Safety Day at Willowcreek Middle School
The Portage Fire Department along with our Portage Kiwanis will be hosting a Safety Day at Willowcreek Middle School parking lot on Saturday May 21st, 1 pm- 4pm. The event highlights safe practice in bicycling, water, and general safety principals as the children venture out for summertime fun in the community. We have been dispensing, with financial help from Porter Regional, over 100 bicycle helmets each year to children in need. The event has a history back now over 20 years in our community and teaching these safety messages makes us confident we have reduced traumatic injuries in our youth.

Walk-Able Community Day in the City of Hobart
We invite ALL to join us our Walk-Able Community event the "Walking" Train on Saturday, May 21st 2016! We will have five different "Walking" Trains leaving home stations throughout the community of the City of Hobart that will lead to the Brickie Bowl for the Bring Back Brickie Bowl fundraiser.

Kick It In The Sticks 4 Country Music Festival
Kick it in the Sticks is a 21+ country music festival dedicated to the love of country music. A day in which fans & bands unite! A unique opportunity to hang out with your favorite bands before & after the show. 2016 Lineup: Jimmy Sarr BandHigh NoonEthan Bell BandShotgun Whiskey Eli Hernandez DJ Double. This is an outside event, rain or shine. 21+. Tickets are $10 each and will be available from band members and at www.jimmysarrband.com. Paint the Town Pink: "Not Your Mama's Bunco Night" at Center Lounge
The City of Whiting presents Paint the Town Pink! Community businesses come together to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research through four events. If you know how to roll dice and have fun, that's all you need to know! 7pm start time. $10 to play. Cash prize for first and raffles. Everyone is welcome to attend. Center Lounge is located at 1312 119th St. 

Schererville Indiana Farm to Table Event
This year we are holding a "Farm to Table" event at Redar Park to kick off our newly re-branded Farmers Market. Our "Farm to Table" event will take place on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 6 - 8 PM. Our VIP entrance will begin at 5 PM. This event will feature a menu that includes several courses, which incorporate fresh food from local produce vendors. Bartlett’s Owner/Chef Nicole will be developing the menu and Designer Desserts will be sponsoring the desserts. Tickets are now officially on sale to the general public and available at Schererville Town Hall and at www.activenwi.com. Chicago Street Theatre One Night Jam
"American Idol" finalist and international recording artist/performer Casey Abrams returns to the Chicago Street Theatre main stage for his second "One Night Jam" concert appearance on Sunday, May 22nd.
