10 Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana: Patriot Dance Party, Dinner with Scoopie, and Concert in the Park

Each week we will be bringing you 10 fun things to do in Northwest Indiana over the weekend, so you are never without something to do!

Stars, Stripes, and Swinging at Duneland Ballroom!
What better way to celebrate the holiday weekend than on the dance floor? It's all stars, stripes, and swinging the night away at Duneland Ballroom's Patriot Party on Saturday, July 7, 2012, starting with a jitterbug group at 7:30 pm, then general dancing at 8:15 pm. We'll be cooking out on the grill, so feel free to bring snacks to share. And be sure to catch one staff member's rendition of the national anthem.

Friday Southpoint Cruise-In Features a Touch of Country
This week we are excited to have a vast display of antique tractors and lawn mowers on display during Friday Night Cruise-In! If you have a tractor or lawn mower that you would like to bring, we would like to have you come out and join us for the Cruise-In. Don't forget to come hungry and thirsty, Suzie's Cafe will have food available and also a beer garden provided by Leroy's!

July 4th Celebrations Continue Through the Weekend
The Cedar Lake Summerfest is a 4th of July festival that has been held for the last 31 years. This year, the festival will take place July 4th through the 8th. Enjoy activities for all ages on the shore of Cedar Lake when the town complex transforms into 18 acres of fun, with fireworks, live entertainment, amusement rides, a beer garden, and more!

Have Dinner with Scoopie at Culvers!
Join Culver's of Valparaiso for a dinner with Scoopie on Sunday, July 8, 2012, 5:00 to 7:00 pm! The day will feature face painting, a balloon artist, and a coloring contest. There will also be the chance to win a FREE dinner for 4 with Scoopie!

South Shore Air Show to Honor the Fallen
The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority is planning a ceremony on July 7, 2012 during the South Shore Air Show for families of fallen soldiers from the war on terrorism. The ceremony will be held in the event tent at 1:30 p.m., with a presentation of flags flown at Fort Bragg from the US Army Golden Knights. Families are invited to attend the entire Air Show on Saturday, and will be escorted to the ceremony.

Jewelry Making Classes at the Portage Library
Mara Wible, formerly of MegaBeads will lead jewelry making classes Fridays in July 2012. Pre-registration at the library is required before each class and cash payment will be taken at registration. July 6, 11 am – 1pm: Byzantine Bracelet. A Byzantine chain is a 4 in 1 chain meaning that each chain passes through four others. This chain is supple and flexible draping gracefully like rope.

Craig Morgan to Headline Stage at Stardust!
Country sensation Craig Morgan, whose number one hits include, "Almost Home," "Redneck Yacht Club," "That's What I Love About Sunday," "Little Bit of Life," and "International Harvester," will perform a special show in the Stardust Event Center at Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa on Saturday, July 7, 2012, 8:00 pm!

Two-Man Alternate Shot at Robbinhurst
This is a true alternate shot tournament as you are only playing every other shot. Tee Times begin at 10am. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO ENTRY FEE! Only $25 per player as a SPECIAL GREEN FEE!

Summer Rhapsody Music Festival Concert
Up next in the 10 concert series is the VHS Alumni Jazz Band, performing in the Central Park Plaza amphitheatre at 7 pm on July 7. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics and outside food as they enjoy this free concert!

Running Wild for the Washington Park Zoo
A 5K Run and Walk on July 7 that begins and finishes at Washington Park Zoo. Race begins at 9 am with race day registration and packet pick up at 7:45 am.
