South Shore Orchestra to Host 7th Annual Wine Dinner
SSO invites you to join them to celebrate and help raise funds for another exciting year of providing an intriguing musical interlude with fine music at a modest cost. This will begin their 8th season. Hook and Ladder Winery will be the host for this year's 7th annual wine dinner served at Nicole Bisonette's restaurant, Venue by Bistro in Valparaiso. A five course dinner designed by Nicole to pair with the wines provided by our guest winemaker, proves to be a fine dining hit every year.
Purdue Alumni Club Hosting Basketball Watch Party
The Purdue Alumni Club of Northwest Indiana is hosting a basketball watch party on Saturday, January 21,2012 starting at 11am. Come on out and cheer on the Purdue Boilermakers as they take on the Michigan State Spartans in a great basketball match up! This is a free event which is fun for the whole family!!
Mambo Meets Murder at Duneland Ballroom
Duneland Ballroom has been struck by the Ballroom Butcher, and we need your help to bring this dastardly dancer to justice! And of course, we'll do a little dancing of our own!
Middle School Mania at the Valparaiso Family YMCA
On Saturday, January January 21st, we will be kicking off the new year with our fun nights for middle school kids. A host of activities are offered each session including open gym for basketball, ping pong, Xbox and Wii games, board and card games, art activities, and a DJ with music and dancing. For the teen artists out there, bring your creativity so you can help us draw and design our next MSM Night flyer!
Friends of Fishing to Host Ice Fishing Derby
Friends of Fishing has formed as an effort to make a difference on many aspects of fishing events and help the communities in Porter County. This year, two Ice Fishing Derbies have been planned, if weather cooperates! The first one, originally to be held Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Loomis Lake in Valparaiso, has been postponed to February 4, yet the group will still meet this Saturday and draw for raffles!

Thank Goodness It’s Fondue Annual Fundraiser
Everyone is invited to attend the Northwest Indiana Humane Society’s Annual Fundraiser to be held on Saturday, January 21st. Festivities include a full menu of fondue selections from Chef John Rooney such as cheese, chocolate, and veggies. In addition, there will be beautiful baskets donated for the Silent Auction, a 50/50 raffle, wine, beer and pop and pets on display that are up for adoption.
Southern Shore Art Association to Host Printmaking Demonstration
Stephanie Samaitis Carnell will give a presentation on printmaking, Sunday, January 22nd. Stephanie said she would cover just a bit of history about intaglio printmaking and will explain the difference between relief printing and intaglio printmaking. She will also show the different intaglio methods such as: engraving, drypoint, etching, collagraphy and solar-plate.
Valparaiso Sunrise Kiwanis Raising Money for Local Scholarships
Come and support your local Kiwanis group and get a full-stomach. Sunrise Kiwanis will be holding their first ever Slam Dunk Spaghetti Dinner on Friday, January 20th. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door each ticket will get you all you can eat spaghetti, salad, breadsticks, dessert and drinks. Proceeds will benefit Sunrise Kiwanis Valparaiso High School Scholarship Fund, Riley Children's Hospital and Kiwanis International's Eliminate Project.
9th Annual Gardening Show
The Gardening Show - winner of the 2009 Festival of the Year Award - features presentations by national, regional and local gardening experts, special lodging & dining packages, a Seed & Bulb Exchange, Garden Photography Contest, Children's Corner, and food service, as well as 100 exhibitors and vendors of products and services for and about gardens and gardening.
