11th Annual Heartwarming Soups and Hometown Entertainment Dinner

11 years and still going strong!

St. Paul's Catholic Church was the place to be on Thursday, February 11th. Seventeen area restaurants provided their signature soups and desserts for the event. Valparaiso University music students provided a wonderful variety of music during dinner for our guests.

The primary sponsor for this event was Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Thrivent chapters from 6 different local churches all pitch in to help and provide volunteers to pick up soups from the restaurants, serve soups and desserts, bake desserts, clean up afterwards, and all the many duties that go along with providing 300 or more people with the finest soup buffet dinner they could imagine. Participating churches include Immanuel, Christ Lutheran, Bethlehem, Faith Memorial, Heritage, and Trinity. In addition to the many volunteers, Thrivent provides significant funding making this the most important fundraiser for Hilltop’s Childcare Scholarship program. During 2009, Hilltop Neighborhood House provided more than $148,000 in childcare assistance to low-income families.

Special thanks to the many volunteers who helped make this such a success--delivering soups, serving soups, setting tables, and much more! Thanks also to the generous restaurants who provide the fantastic array of soups and desserts for the evening:

Of course, the best part about our Heartwarming Soups and Hometown Entertainment dinner is that this supports our Childcare Scholarship program for low-income working parents!! Thanks to all who made this a great success!!
