Last night Chief Michael Brickner hosted the annual Citizens’ Police Academy Graduation. Chief Brickner congratulated the 16 graduates and thanked them for their commitment to the program, community involvement and interest in the Valparaiso Police Department.
The participants completed a nine week program that introduced them to numerous specialties within the department. Some of the activities included demonstrations from the K9 program, bicycle team, SWAT members, investigation /evidence collection, traffic enforcement and the hiring process.
The Citizens’ Police Academy was initiated in 2003 and since that time over 200 community members have graduated from the program. Attached is a class photo of the 2014 graduates.
