To get ready for the homecoming game, the students and teachers dress up in a different theme Monday-Thursday. Students had lots of fun choosing their best outfits for the pajama, jersey, western, and green and gold-themed spirit days.

On Thursday, February 11, an exciting pep rally filled with games and a performance from the dance team was held. Additionally, the homecoming court was announced. Games at the pep rally included a blackout and toe touch challenge. The challenge featured one student from each grade. The winner was decided based on who received the loudest cheers from their peers. The winner was senior Ethan Lesko and the runner-up was sophomore Wiley Barker.

On Friday, February 12, Morgan Township High School faced Wheeler High School for the thrilling homecoming basketball game. #5 Greyson Lemmons scored 21 points in the game. #21 Tate Ivanyo added 14 points. Morgan Township held Wheeler scoreless for the first 15 minutes of the second half and outscored them 47-5 in the second half. Both teams played hard, but Morgan Township came out on top with a final score of 77-22.

In addition to the game, Friday night the homecoming court nominees were presented. Each candidate was chosen by the students at Morgan Township, and there were three candidates for each spot in the homecoming court. Nominees were announced during half-time at the game, and a review of their accomplishments and choice for college were presented. The winners were:

  • King: Bram Arnett (Senior)
  • Queen: Lanie Ruff (Senior)
  • Prince: Tyce Kolan (Junior)
  • Princess: Nina Nash (Junior)

“Being chosen as homecoming king felt good! To think that I had been chosen by my peers to be king was a very nice honor,” said Arnett.

Homecoming queen Lanie Ruff added to his sentiment.

“Being crowned homecoming queen during the pandemic is truly humbling. Senior year brings many memories and many ‘lasts,’” Ruff said. “From the ‘last’ varsity game to ‘last’ homecoming, and so on. Though I am overjoyed at my peers blessing me with this great honor, I am saddened that most senior students at schools across the country will not get to partake in this tradition. I am proud and honored to have been chosen to represent our class and am so grateful I got to have this experience.”
