2 Local Swimmers Selected for Team Indiana

Once a year, Indiana Swimming competes in the quadrangular meet. A select group of coaches are asked to coach Team Indiana, and the top athletes in the state are invited to represent Indiana in a multistate all-star meet. This year's meet was held on January 9-10th at The Natatorium in Indianapolis. In order to be considered for selection athletes must perform at, or above, state level times. All eligible athletes are pooled together and ranked. It is then up to the coaching staff to look at all athletes that have qualified and fill the limited roster spaces with a team that will perform the best at the meet. The Valparaiso Swim Club was fortunate to have two athletes and one coach selected to represent Team Indiana in the 2010 QUAD Meet.

On December 24th, 2009, Andrew Antonetti and Trevor Stalbaum were both notified that they were selected to represent Indiana. Trevor Stalbaum was selected because of his recent successes in the 1650 freestyle. Stalbaum is gearing up to challenge the team's record in the mile and possibly earn a sectional time before the end of the season. Andrew Antonetti will compete in the 500 freestyle, the 200 freestyle, 1650 freestyle and the 200 backstroke. Antonetti is hoping to lower his team record in the 200 & 1650 freestyle, and possibly overtake the 200 and 500 freestyle records. The athletes will be joined on deck by their coach Manny Perez who was selected earlier this year to work on the Team Indiana coaching staff.

The Valparaiso Swim Club wishes them the best of luck and know they will make us all proud.
