2012 Valparaiso High School Prom Information

The Junior Class officers & the prom committee have been busy planning for this very special evening. As prom sponsors, we thought we would inform you of some of the activities & procedures accompanying this event.

PROM will be at the Porter County Expo Center on Friday, May 18th from 8:30-11:30pm. School will not be in session on that day – it was a designated snow make-up day.

PROM TICKETS go on sale 3 weeks before prom and can be purchased ONLY after school in room PK105 (Mrs. Yelton’s room). The scheduled dates to buy tickets are Monday, April 30th to Friday, May 11th. Tickets are $20/person. All checks should be written to Valparaiso High School (VHS). Try not to bring currency over $20 since we may not have change and that could cause you an unnecessary delay in your purchase. You must have a current VHS ID present when purchasing your ticket. If you are unable to buy your tickets, make sure the person purchasing them for you has your current VHS ID and any fine receipts if applicable. Any late ticket purchases will need administrative approval and may be subject to a $20 late fee. The administration has the right to DENY the sale of the ticket - so do not chance buying late. We are going to do the same thing this year as last year with prom ticket sales. Seniors, as you walk in PK105, go to the right to purchase your tickets from Mrs. Yelton. Juniors, walk straight ahead to purchase your tickets from Mrs. Fiegle-Hicks. We hope with 2 lines, buying tickets will be a faster transaction!!

FINES must be paid in the bookstore and media center before you can purchase your tickets. Please check the posting outside the bookstore and/or PK105. If you go through the line and it is noted you owe a fine, you will have to pay it first and may have to start at the back of the line again.

GUEST PASS FORMS will be available soon in the main office or by the bookstore. A guest is a VHS sophomore or graduate age 20 or under, or a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate from another high school age 20 or under. If you are bringing a guest, you must complete the form with all the proper signatures and return it to the main office by TUESDAY, MAY 8th . The guest pass form must have a final signature by Mr. Pavell, Mrs. Simon or Mr. Amones. NO EXCEPTIONS!! (It may take a few days for approval). You must have this form completed before you purchase a prom ticket. Guest tickets will be available at the same time and place for $20.

THE GRAND MARCH will be held at VHS again this year. The march will be from 6:15pm to 7:30pm in the gym. All spectators need to enter through doors #5 or #7 in back of the school. Also, please park in the back parking lot so there is enough room up front for the prom participants to park. All prom participants are asked to enter through the front doors or the southeast door by the band rooms, door #10. The cost for each spectator will be $1 (school age children and above) which will go toward a scholarship for a VHS student(s) from the class of 2013. Last year, we collected over $1000 to help students from the class of 2012. Since the march is only one hour, we ask that you go through the march only once. Thanks for your cooperation.

PROM FAVORS will be given out when you purchase your ticket for the prom on a first come basis. Only VHS junior and senior students attending prom will receive a favor. If favors remain, they will be sold (for $3) in room YL103.

PICTURES will be taken by Barry’s Photography from 5:00pm to 8:00pm in the VHS cafeteria. The package prices range from $22 to $60. A picture flyer with all the information will be given to you when you purchase your tickets. Group pictures will be taken at the Expo Center from approximately 9:00pm to last call. Students will be able to pick up their prom pictures at VHS during all lunch hours the last week of May. Any questions, please call Barry’s at 462-9755.

POST PROM INFORMATION: Post prom will not be held this year. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Fiegle-Hicks or Mrs. Yelton.

NOTES FROM ADMINISTRATION:

  1. Drinking and/or drug use will not be tolerated. Any violation will be referred to the police.
  2. Formal attire is required – gentlemen in a tuxedo/suit and ladies in a formal dress/skirt. All guests must agree to conform to the dress standards of Valparaiso High School.

We hope that this gives you an idea of dates, times and places for this exciting event. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Mrs. Fiegle-Hicks(YL103) | Mrs. Yelton(PK105)
