2013 Opportunity Enterprises Marathon Team Callout Dates Announced

OE-Marathon-2012Callout meetings for the 2013 Opportunity Enterprises Marathon Team will be held on Saturday, February 2, 9:00 am at Omni 41 Health & Fitness Connection, 221 US Highway 41, in Schererville, and on Wednesday, February 6, 6:30 PM at Opportunity Enterprises, 2801 Evans Avenue in Valparaiso.

Runners who join the 2013 OE Marathon Team during open registration will pay a registration fee of $75, with a commitment to raise an additional $300 for Opportunity Enterprises. Runners who wait to register until after Open Registration closes will have to pay a registration fee of $200, with an additional fundraising commitment of $550.

With open registration for this year’s marathon expected to close quickly, runners are encouraged to register during open registration to take advantage of the lower fee structure.

Open registration for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon has been shorter and shorter over the last several years,” says OE Marathon Team Coordinator Alyse Kominakis. “Two years ago it closed in about 25 days, and last year in 6 days. In addition, the marathon office has implemented several changes to the registration process for 2013. Runners who want to join the team, even those who’ve run with OE for many years, are strongly encouraged to attend a callout meeting to learn about these very significant changes.

Team membership includes training programs modified for beginning, intermediate, and advanced runners, which will prepare participants to complete the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 13, 2012. Training programs include long weekend runs with water stops supervised by experience training coordinators.

In addition to the training program, team members will enjoy other benefits, including use of an exclusive race day warm-up and reunite area, a team shirt, race day transportation to and from Northwest Indiana, a weekly e-newsletter containing training tips and team updates throughout the training season, a pasta dinner and post-race party during race weekend, and discounts on Northwest Indiana hotels for out-of-town runners and their families.
