2014 April Antics Showcases Student Talents

Live from Valparaiso High School was Viking Night Live! With amazing talent from the students of Valparaiso High School, April Antics 2014 was a huge success. On Friday and Saturday, the students put on an entertaining show in the Valparaiso High School auditorium. Seats were filled with family and friends who cheered on their fellow classmates.

This year’s theme was based off of Saturday Night Live. With clever skits and some remakes of classic SNL sketches, the audience was kept laughing with all of the VHS-relevant jokes.

Director Michele Craig has been working hard with the students to put on a show that displayed their many talents.

“This year I am super excited because this really does belong to the students. They picked the theme and wrote all the sketches themselves. This group has just been so cooperative and so much fun to work with. We’ve had a lot of laughs,” said Craig

Having directed April Antics for 5 years now, this show means a lot to Craig and all of the adults who have helped the students put the show together.

“Just seeing how much the kids enjoy it and the excitement on their faces is the best part. It was the first time I had so many of the students come up to me and thank me for such a fantastic show. That’s my reward in doing this,” said Craig

The students were the stars of the show with their wide range of talents. Acts included anything from singing, playing instruments, dancing, and skits. The students of Valparaiso High School proved to be a talented bunch.

President of Drama Club, Katie Ploetz, acted and sang in the show. She shared some insight on the importance of April Antics to the students.

“The most exciting part of the show is that it is unlike any show we’ve done. Its student run and the majority of the actors on stage actually wrote the skits they are performing. Every single act is run by the kids and every single skit is written by the students,” said Ploetz

All of the hard work from the students and advisors paid off as they put on a great entertaining show. April Antics 2014: Viking Night Live, showed the incredible talents of the students and provided many laughs for the audience.
