2014 Spring Fling 5K Ramp Run

The Spring Fling 5K Ramp Run started in April of 2002 in response to a series of requests from PUC students, staff and fitness center members for a walking/running event similar to the Fall Frolic 4-Mile Run, but offered in the spring of the year.

The original 5k course was run partly on campus walkways and included several nearby streets surrounding Purdue University Calumet. In April of 2006 the course was changed to include running/walking up the incline ramps of the PUC Parking Garage. From that day forward, the event took on a new identity and would henceforth be called the Spring Fling 5K Ramp Run.

Runners/walkers enter the parking structure at the 1.5 mile mark in the race then ascend up 4 incline ramps to the top level of the facility. They immediately cross over to the opposite side and begin their descent back down the ramps and continue out on the race course to finish the 5K.

Race day registration and packet pick up take place in the Student Union and Library Building. Starting time for the event is 9:00 am.

The overall male and female winner, as well as the male and female masters division winners receive special awards. Ramp run medals go to the top 3 finishers in each age group, as well as those entered in the Clydesdale and Athena categories and PUC students and staff.
