2015 Valparaiso YMCA Midsummer Night Gala, a Success for Funding Our Community

YMCA-Red-PurpleThe Valparaiso Family YMCA’s Midsummer Night Gala held on August 15th raised over $14,000. Producer Susan Brychell, and the dancers of Valparaiso Fred Astaire Valparaiso, mirrored the event after the “Fashion Rocks” international movement combining fashion, music, and dance.

Proceeds from this special fundraising event benefits the Annual Community Support Campaign. The Valparaiso Family YMCA provides financially supported Child Care, preschool, summer camps and special programs specifically designed to meet the changing needs of our community. The Diabetes Prevention Program, LiveSTRONG at the YMCA, and the Can-Do-Kids – a camp uniquely designed for special needs children, are a few of the focus areas in our mission to serve all. The Valparaiso Family YMCA expects to exceed $300,000 in 2015 to support these programs in addition to providing memberships to more than 14 area group homes and human service agencies, such as: Opportunity Enterprises, The Caring Place, Porter-Starke and Hilltop House. The proceeds of our events enable these agencies to bring their clients to the YMCA to enjoy the physical, as well as the psychological benefits of fitness, exercise, and socialization.
