$24M residential development in downtown Hammond

The City of Hammond and NWI Hohman LLC celebrate new adaptive reuse residential development

Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the Hammond Redevelopment Commission are pleased to announce the approval of a development agreement with NWI Hohman LLC to redevelopment the iconic Bank Calumet building at 5231 Hohman Ave in downtown Hammond into 100 market rate apartments and 10,000sf of ground floor commercial space. “This building was identified in our downtown master plan by Jeff Speck as one of key buildings in our downtown area,” said Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. “NWI Hohman LLC understands its importance and has taken on the responsibility to reimagine it for some fantastic new apartments and a cool commercial space in the lobby. This new project is aligned with our downtown vision; hundreds of new residents, and the amenities to support them, will breathe new life into our core.”
