4th Street Theater’s ‘The Shadowbox’ to benefit VNA Hospice

4th Street Theater, in their ongoing commitment to provide Northwest Indiana's theater-going community with high quality, thought provoking drama, is proud to announce their 2009 summer production of Michael Cristofer's Pulitzer Prize winning drama, The Shadow Box. Produced by Kevin Doler and Sandy Assarian and directed by Jim Thorp and Kevin Doler, The Shadow Box is set in the mid 1970's in a hospice in northern California and introduces the audience to three characters and their families who are all struggling with terminal cancer. Although the topic of this play is intended for mature audiences, The Shadow Box is an affirmation of life. As each character in this powerful drama wrestles with their own personal form of denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance, the audience is similarly challenged to reflect on their own mortality.

The talented ensemble cast of The Shadow Box includes Steve Rohe, Porter; Lisa Remmers, Whiting; Wayne Puchkors, St. John; Dustin Ritchea and Stephanie Rice, Chesterton; Sherry VerWey, Griffith; Louis Arata, Chicago; Nathan O'Brien, New Buffalo; and Kathy Rosdil, Crown Point.

Assisting with the production are Lighting Designers David Pifko and Angela Heid, Assistant Director and Stage Manager Jude Tanter, Co-Producer and Set Designer Kevin Doler with special production assistance by Jim Nelms.

Production dates and times are August 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd at 8:00 pm and Sunday matinees at 3:00 pm on August 16th and 23rd.  Ticket prices are $12.00 and may be reserved by contacting the box office at 219-926-7875.

A portion of the proceeds from opening night, Friday, August 7th, will benefit the hospice program of the Visiting Nurse Association of Porter County.

4th Street Theater is located at 125 N.4th Street in Chesterton, Indiana.
