To conclude our study of the Middle Ages in Europe, the sixth grade held Feudal Day on April 9. Students each chose an aspect of medieval life to research and worked in groups to plan a presentation of what they learned. Students designed posters, constructed a castle and a catapult model, presented short skits and gave oral presentations on topics including defense and weaponry, architecture, daily life on a manor, the plague, the Crusades, sports and recreation, and foods of the Middle Ages. The students in the food group researched and planned the provisions for our feast, and “merriment abounded”.
