A blast from the past With StoryPoint Chesterton

The residents of StoryPoint Chesterton got a blast from the past this Friday night thanks to a concert featuring the timeless music of Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley.

Residents, staff, and all their family members gathered in the Ivy Tech auditorium where they enjoyed great food, became stars in the photo booth, and, of course, enjoyed a show that they would never forget. Community members of all ages were there to see the concert, proving that music, no matter the age or time, can bring people closer together.

“We always want to focus on the experience our residents have,” said Curtis Avison, regional director of StoryPoint. “We wanted them to be able to say that this made them feel special and they get to experience that every day.”

StoryPoint did everything they could to help capture the perfect night for the community. They gave all of the residents roped-off seating to make them feel like they were VIP for the concert. They even got front row seats to see the swooning powers of Elvis Presley as he sang his heart out for the crowd.

“We wanted to bring everyone together and show the community that's what we are all about,” said Courtney Fokianos, executive director of StoryPoint Chesterton. “Music brings back a lot of great memories for people, plus who doesn’t love Frank and Elvis? All the residents love it and were so excited about everything. We want them to know they always come first.”

Despite having some big shoes to fill, the talent brought their best work with them to make the residents feel like they were actually in the presence of Sinatra and Presley. Both have performed shows for other StoryPoint locations and wanted to leave the crowd breathless.

“We love that the people here really love and appreciate this kind of music,” said Jeff Granger, Sinatra tribute artist. “They really can get into that. You can see that it brings back a lot of great memories, and they have a lot of fun.”

On the other side of the stage, in typical Elvis fashion, he too wanted to leave a great impression on the audience. However, he had one other very important goal in mind first.

“Well, we want to try to serenade all the ladies out there,” said Taylor Rodriguez, Elvis tribute artist. “I love performing and teaching people the history behind this great music. It’s like you see a jolt of life go through them when they hear the music, and you can see the happiness on their face.”
