Lyndsye Felsman knows the importance of home. Ten years ago, Felsman was working as an interior designer in her hometown of Parry Sound, Ontario and living in a house that her husband and father-in-law had built from the ground up. Kurt, her husband, was a custom home builder and they lived a comfortable life surrounded by family and friends. Felsman thought that this was their forever home. God had other plans.
“My husband Kurt had always played music and led worship at our local church. It was what he was meant to do, and it was much more fulfilling than his full-time job as a contractor. One day out of the blue, he received a call from Calvary Church in Valparaiso, Indiana offering him an opportunity to be the worship director,” she said.
Knowing this wasn’t just a chance opportunity, the Felsman family made the trip to Northwest Indiana and knew it was a perfect fit.
“During our first visit to Valparaiso, we immediately fell in love with the people. The warmth and friendliness of the community is incredible, and it’s been an amazing place to create a new legacy for our family. Although relocating was hard, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. The only thing I would do differently is make the move faster,” Felsman said.
Once settled in Indiana, Felsman continued her work as an interior designer by helping local agents stage their listings. This was the catalyst to pursuing her real estate license.
“I always had an interest in the real estate industry and loved house hunting online. I had the passion and relevant experience, I figured I might as well give it a shot!”
Felsman joined Century 21 Alliance Group in October 2019 and by November, she already had her first listing.
“I love being a part of the Century 21 team. From the moment you sign on, you feel incredibly supported,” she said. “The training that you receive from Kathy and Jeanne ensures you form good business habits straight out of the gate. When you learn from the best in the area, you learn how to do things right.”
Felsman approaches her work with an open mind, an open heart and a lot of listening.
“I ask a lot of questions. I’m determined to learn everything about the client to find the home that will serve them best,” she said.
It also helps that her personal journey to establish her home in Valparaiso has given her invaluable insight to the needs of her clients.
“I know firsthand that home is such a huge part of a person’s existence. I take it as both an incredible opportunity and responsibility to find my clients the perfect spaces for their unique needs and lifestyle,” Felsman said.
With her experience as an interior designer, Felsman is a two-for-one deal!
“I always encourage clients to think of a potential home as a blank canvas. I’m able to give them perspective on how to transform an ordinary house into a home. That’s a perk that you get with me,” she said.
During the COVID-19 quarantine, Felsman is staying busy while still supporting her clients.
“Communication is beyond important, especially now. I’m checking in with everyone constantly and I’m always available to talk or look into properties for them. I’m also using my Facebook page to keep people engaged and informed, sharing articles on design or the housing market that I find insightful or interesting.”
Felsman continues to stay laser focused on offering the most value for clients.
“I want to work with anyone who’s ready to take the meaning of home to the next level. I’m ready to work hard for my clients and I’m going to do my best,” she said.
