A date night destination: Copper Rock at Four Winds Casino

Steak, lobster, and gourmet desserts - oh my! Anyone who knows me knows I’m sort of a food connoisseur. What can I say? I like to eat. It’s rare when a restaurant totally rocks my world and Copper Rock at Four Winds Casino South Bend did just that.

Four Winds Casino is a great, quick escape for many adults, but it’s their signature steakhouse that makes it a perfect date-night destination. And the culinary experience the restaurant provides is something many other steakhouses can’t match.

Just less than an hour away from our home in Burns Harbor, Copper Rock made for an ideal getaway for the night. Over the ten years we’ve been together, my wife and I have developed traditions of menu items we usually always pick. She usually orders something with seafood, and I usually keep it simple and take the steak route.

Appetizers and Cocktails

We kicked off the evening with drinks. My wife chose a wonderful lavender bellini which consisted of peach puree, sparkling wine, and fresh lavender. In the holiday spirit, I got the Christmas Moscow Mule cocktail. My drink included fresh herbs muddled with sugar, topped with ginger beer, vodka, and cranberries. The cocktail tasted as good as it sounded and went wonderfully with the restaurant’s amazing bread basket (with an epic spread selection to go with it) and meal.

Our entrees

Then it was time for my favorite part of the evening - dinner time! My wife ordered the roasted main lobster and truffle lobster mac ‘n cheese. Both were phenomenal. It’s hard to find a restaurant in Northwest Indiana with good seafood and Copper Rock knocked it out of the park.

For my entree, I had the 16oz Bison Ribeye - cooked to perfection. The restaurant only uses naturally raised buffalo from Colorado, and I surely tasted the difference. For those who may not know, bison meat is rich in flavor, nutrients, and best of all - lean with very little fat.

The meal comes with wild rice and huckleberry gastrique. One of the many things I loved about Copper Rock was the portion sizes of the sides. I chose the charred brussel sprouts with bacon, maple syrup, and caramelized onions. The steak was unlike any other slab of meat I’ve had before and when it was topped off with the huckleberry gastrique - it definitely made it a meal I will never forget.

Dessert time

Copper Rock’s dessert menu is quite extensive. From tiramisu and key lime tart to a seven-layer chocolate cake - it was a hard choice. Per the hostess’ recommendation, we decided to split crème brûlée - a caramel crusted Tahitian vanilla bean custard. It was a perfect treat to polish off the evening.

Copper Rock at Four Winds Casino South Bend is perfect for any occasion, but especially if you’re celebrating a special one. To learn more about Copper Rock’s menu offering or make a reservation visit their website or call 1-866-494-637.
