When you walk into a car dealership, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? Likely, you’re wondering right way if you are going to have a good experience with the sales person. If you sit down with Chris McCarty, sales manager at Thomas Kia of Highland, you’ll probably want to buy a car from him instantly.
McCarty is not a typical sales manager His life experiences heavily influence his positive relationships with people. McCarty has served in the Army, was married on the Steve Harvey Show to his beautiful wife of five years, has won the “Audi National Walk Around Competition” in 2009, and has more than 22 years of sales experience.
McCarty said if you’re going to succeed in whatever you do, you have to live it, breathe it, and eat it. After four years of being in the Army, McCarty said he left the military with having no sales experience at all. “Some people go to college, others take up a trade. For me, this was my education. I started selling cellular phones and after doing that for a while, I came across an ad for a car sales position. I went and talked to the owner and the rest is history.” He honed his craft at other dealerships over the years before landing at Thomas Kia of Highland.
Most people know that sales is not the easiest industry. It takes hard work, consistency, and persistence to maintain your craft. “You have to want to do it,” McCarty said. “You have to love what you’re doing and be passionate and dedicated.” These exact words are what led him to being a top sales manager at Thomas Kia of Highland.
McCarty says his sales career has helped him evolves as a person. “Being in customer service, no matter the realm of customer service that you’re in, you have to learn how to deal with different personalities. Being able to adapt in different situations has changed me not only in my work life, but in my personal life as well. There’s been some good and not so good days, but the good days outweigh my bad ones for sure.”
McCarty is not the only one who has a gift of developing everlasting relationships with people. His wife and three of four sons also are involved with car sales. “It runs in the family. My wife told me how she felt that she could do what I’m doing and now she’s doing it too! We are actually in business together. I am blessed to have the kind of family that loves to help others and loves to see people happy. That is our foundation.”
McCarty added that working to be the sales manager at Thomas Kia of Highland has been one of the best decisions he has made. Thomas Kia of Highland has helped hundreds of people purchase vehicles, offering many programs to fit different financial situations. It’s not just a business, but a family who loves to help individuals and other families achieve their goals.
