A Tuna Christmas Back for Second Year at Chicago Street

Back for a limited-time run this holiday season is the unique and very funny comedy, A Tuna Christmas. Tuna-Christmas

That’s Tuna, Texas, as in the third-smallest town in Texas, not tuna, as in a can.

The response to the show last December was so strong that Chicago Street Theatre decided to return it to the stage this year.

The show depicts 26 eccentric characters of both genders played hilariously by just three actors – Eric Brant, Bob Craig, and Dan Matern.

The plot centers around the town's annual Christmas Yard Display Contest, won 14 times in a row by Vera Carp. A mysterious "Christmas Phantom," known for vandalizing the yard displays, threatens to throw the contest into turmoil. Among the subplots are Stanley Bumiller's attempts to end his probation and exit Tuna, Bertha Bumiller's angst to hold her family together at Christmastime, and Joe Bob Lipsey's effort to mount successfully his production of A Christmas Carol despite numerous obstacles.

Tickets are available now at the CST Box Office, located at 154 W. Chicago St. in Valparaiso. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and two hours before each production. The box office phone number is (219) 464-1636. Tickets also are available for purchase online by visiting www.chicagostreet.org

The 56th season at CST is generously sponsored by Urschel Laboratories, UFS Corporation, Coastal Valley Water Company, Porter County Community Foundation, Indiana Dunes Tourism, South Shore Arts, and the Indiana Arts Commission.

Join us for an opening night gala with the cast and crew on Friday, Dec. 10. Hosted at Restaurante Don Quijote 119 E. Lincolnway in Valparaiso, everyone in the audience is invited to join the cast and crew for complimentary appetizers and a cash bar.
