The Chapel of the Resurrection's annual Advent Christmas Vespers will be Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at 7:00 and 10:00 p.m. This year's theme is "A Visit," and will feature the art of John August Swanson and a newly composed choral work, "Home," by acclaimed composer Libby Larsen. This evening of scriptural readings and special music will feature the Kantorei Choir and the Handbell Choir of the Chapel of the Resurrection. In addition, for the 7 p.m. Vespers the choirs will be joined by the Jubilate children's choir from Immanuel Lutheran Church of Valparaiso.
There is no charge to attend the service, but tickets are required. Specially marked envelopes, which serve as tickets for the event, may be picked up at the Chapel or reserved by email (chris.boshoven@valpo.edu) or phone (219) 464-5093, ext. 6. Please be sure to indicate how many tickets are needed and for which service, 7 or 10 p.m.
The envelopes can also be used by those wishing to make a gift supporting the Chapel's ministries, including student leadership development, spring break service trips, and new student outreach. Checks should be made payable to Valparaiso University with "Chapel"in the memo.
A reception, sponsored by the Thrivent Community Board - Greater Valparaiso Group, will be held at the Community Room of the Christopher Center, adjacent to the Chapel, between the 7:00 and 10:00 p.m. services. All are welcome.
