All About the Girls set to celebrate for the eighth year

Once a year the women of Northwest Indiana gather together to celebrate the power in each other. Starting in 2015, All About the Girls (AATG) will now celebrate its eighth anniversary year this June.

On June 1, All About the Girls (AATG) will take over the Urschel Pavillion in downtown Valparaiso. Attendees will come together to be reminded of how powerful they are when connected with one another. AATG offers a space for sharing their stories and experiences with others.

In addition to the camaraderie, AATG selects five motivational women yearly to speak. These women coming from all different professions and backgrounds within the Region are invited on stage to share their personal experiences based on the annual theme.

The 2023 AATG theme is #ThisIsMe. The hope is that women will leave the night with a fresh sense of pride in who they are and who they want to become.

"This year is promising to be even better than all the incredible years previous," said GNL Executive Director and Host/Founder of AATG Jenny Craig-Brown. "The theme 'This is Me' is all about women being their true selves and embracing and loving everything about who they are. The speakers I have planned for this year are AMAZING and I can't wait to see everyone, get inspired, and showcase these empowering women."

Donna Flanagin of Flanagin’s Bulk Mail Service sees the beauty of this event.

“I think this event lets other women know they are not alone in their struggles, hurdles, hopes, dreams,” Flanagin said. “Sometimes you think you are the only one going through things and you will walk away feeling a sisterhood with other women knowing you are definitely not alone.”

As a featured speaker in 2017, Flanagin knows that AATG is an event unlike any other.

“You have to attend to understand this is a 'different' kind of event. It is so fun, so informative, and heartwarming,” Flanagin said. “You will often laugh and sometimes cry as the women talk about their lives and truth. It is not an award banquet. It’s an event that supports women no matter what their age and situation.”

Dr. Vanessa Allen-McCloud, president and chief executive officer of the Urban League of Northwest Indiana couldn’t agree more.

“This event provides the community with an opportunity to witness and hear from some amazing women who are making a difference in the Northwest Indiana Region,” Allen-McCloud said. “AATG inspires and empowers attendees and highlights the power of women who are making a positive difference in the community - both personally and professionally.”

Over the years, AATG has flourished into an amazing evening that invites women attending, excited to learn, make new connections, and spend the evening crying, laughing, and feeling every possible emotion brought on by the amazing speakers.

AATG would not be possible without the support of local sponsors. 2023 sponsors include American Licorice Headquarters, St. Jude, Strack, and Van Til, 1st Source Bank, Paladin, United Healthcare, Community Healthcare, and United Way of NWI. Additional sponsors are still available.
