American Cancer Society Offers Scholarships

The American Cancer Society Great Lakes Division is offering a scholarship program that benefits young cancer survivors.  Since 1997 the scholarship program has been made possible by donations to the society.  The college scholarship program is accepting applications for the '09-'10 school year until April 16th at 5pm.  So far more 900+ scholarships have been awarded to students in the Valparaiso area.

Scholarships are available annually, more than 900 have been granted since '97.  A limited number of tuition scholarships are available for the upcoming school year.  The recipients are chosen  based on financial need, academic performance, community service and leadership qualities.  The following qualifications are required:

  • 20 years old or under and a cancer survivor (as of April 16, 2009)
  • A citizen of the U.S.A. and legal resident of Indiana or Michigan
  • Planned or current attendance to an accredited college or university in Indiana or Michigan in Fall 2009 with 12 or more credit hours per semester
