Area Golfers will Swing to Raise Money for OE

More than 140 golfers from throughout Northwest Indiana will put their best swing forward to raise money for the clients of Opportunity Enterprises during the second annual “One Amazing Golf Outing,” which will take place on Monday, Aug. 24, at Valparaiso Country Club.

Indiana Grain Company, LLC, is serving as the title sponsor of the outing, which also includes corporate support from the NiSource Charitable Foundation and Team Industrial Services.  State Sen. Ed Charbonneau, R-Valparaiso, and Valparaiso Country Club President Lee Loudermilk are serving as co-chairmen for the golf outing for the second year. Last year, more than 130 golfers from throughout Northwest Indiana played in the inaugural outing, raising more than $11,000 for OE.

“We have developed this outing into a unique, must-play event that supports the many enriching programs available to the wonderful clients of OE,” Charbonneau said. “This is more than a golf outing – it’s another way of giving back to the community as demonstrated by the financial commitment put forth by Tom Grisafi and Michael Essany at Indiana Grain Company.”

Participants will also have the chance to walk away with some impressive prizes from the hole-in-one challenges. Hole 17 will feature an all expenses paid trip for two to The Masters, courtesy of Charbonneau; the prize at the 15th hole will be a brand new Harley-Davidson motorcycle, courtesy of Harley-Davidson of Valpo; and if someone aces Hole 4, they will walk away with a cool $10,000, courtesy of Centier.

The outing features an 18-hole scramble format on one of Northwest Indiana’s finest private golf courses.

“Valparaiso Country Club is proud and honored to host the OE golf outing,” Loudermilk said.  “Many of our members are looking forward to playing in this year’s outing, which is certainly shaping up to rival last year’s successful event.”
