Hi everyone!!! My name is Maddie! I go to ILMS and am really excited to do my first blog! I'm not usually this excitable at 9:00 at night. :) I'm 12 years old and am really into being onstage whether singing or acting. As the rehearsals have been going along (greatly I might add) I've learned that the most important parts of making a performance happening is not only the actors but the behind the scenes people too. Being mostly onstage in every show I've worked on I'm really starting to realize the importance, and difference of being behind the scenes. So far, I've drawn different pictures of the set could look like after construction to help create the image of what we’re going for. This Sunday we start building! Since I'm sitting here studying for my math test (blech) I should probably get going. I am most definitely excited to report again!

Hey everyone! Maddie again, I'm really excited to tell you about the set build! I've had a busy week as I had Issma (Indiana State School Music Association competition - got all golds!) and working on my science fair project, but I'd have to say the best day was Sunday. On Sunday, Arlene (Charity), Tiffany and Lisa, the crew, and I went to the theater for not a rehearsal, but the set build! As you all know from my previous blog, this is my first time behind the scenes. So, I didn't know what to expect when I stepped out of the car that day. It turns out it’s a LOT harder than being on stage. :) If you’re one of the actors (minus Arlene who helped build the set) you don't have anything to do with the set other than making it your home on the stage, but being an apprentice I experienced cutting wood, nailing walls and curtains, prying rocks off the frozen ground, and Lisa's yummy homemade gumbo!!!! (It was delicious thanks Lisa) I was soon learning that set building was hard, but fun work. We will start painting and decorating next week and you have no idea how excited I am to start!
