At the Theater

For something to do now with your family, the charming fairytale "The Red Shoes" recently opened at the Chicago Street Theater.  Magical and surprisingly complex story of a young girl who yearns for a pair of red shoes, then discovers that she cannot stop dancing when she wears them.  It's an allegorical tale of trust, deceit, struggle and salvation.  This new version ends the story with an uplifting message for all.  Performance will run through March 8.  Tickets can be purchased by calling (219) 464-1636 or online at the Chicago Street Theater website.

The theater also offers classes for children and adults for both beginning and experienced artists.  Research shows there are a few benefits of young art participants such as they are more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, more likely to be elected to a class office, more likely to participate in a math or science fair or more likely to win an award for writing an essay or poem.
