Northwest Indiana Symphony Chorus
Auditions for the Northwest Indiana Symphony Chorus' 2009-2010 concert season will take place on Friday, August 14 starting at 4:00pm and Saturday, August 15 starting at 10am at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana.
Previous choral experience is recommended. Vocal range, aural abilities, rhythmic comprehension and sight reading will be tested; no prepared vocal selection is required.
The 120-voice volunteer chorus, under the direction of Dr. Nancy Menk, performs regularly with the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. Weekly rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings, 7:30-10:00 p.m., at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, and will begin on Tuesday, August 25.

Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra
Auditions for the Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra's 2009-2010 concert season will take place on Wednesday, September 2 from 3-8pm at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana. The Youth Orchestra is auditioning for All Strings, Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, and Percussion.
The Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Philip Bauman, offers a select group of young musicians a dynamic and educational musical environment, which places a strong emphasis on artistic excellence, personal growth and providing exceptional performance experiences. The Youth Orchestra presents two concerts each year, one in December and one in May, which features our annual concerto competition winner. The Orchestra will also perform a concert side-by-side with the Northwest Indiana Symphony in February, 2010. The season begins with regular Sunday rehearsals September 13th, 2009.
The Youth Orchestra is open to highly accomplished musicians between 8th and 12th grades and post-high school students who are currently under the age of 22. Membership in the Youth Orchestra is by audition only.
