Girls, if you're interested in world affairs, like meeting girls from other countries and would you like to combine your voice with other teen Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world, the Girls' World Forum might be of interest to you.

The Girls' World Forum (GWF) is the third and final event in a series of forums that are part of the World Association of Girl Guide and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) global centenary celebrations. The World Forums, hosted by Girl Guiding UK in 2010 and the World Centers in 2011, have already engaged more than 250 young women in discussions of the WAGGGS Global Action Theme, girls worldwide say "Together We Can Change Our World," which address the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

2012 Forum to be held in Chicago!
The final event will be hosted by Girl Scouts of the USA in partnership with WAGGGS. From July 12 - 17, 2012, the Girls' World Forum will be held in Chicago in collaboration with our council. Each Girl Scouts of the USA council, Girl Scouts Overseas (USAGSO all locations combined) and each of the WAGGGS 145 Member Organizations are invited to send two girl representatives, resulting in more than 600 attendees.

Activities will include:
* Education sessions based on three of the Millennium Development Goals with the goal to identify solutions to -

  • MDG 1 - to end poverty and hunger
  • MDG 3 - to promote gender equality and empower women
  • MDG 7 - to achieve environmental sustainability
  • Workshops to develop advocacy, leadership and communication skills Interactions with external partners concentrating on the MDGs
  • Participation in local action projects
  • Review and incorporation of the 2010 and 2011
  • Forums action plans
  • Centenary celebrations

Chaperone Opportunity
Adults, if you like helping guide girls as they develop plans to impact their communities and beyond, have and interest in world affairs, and are between the ages of 20-30, apply to be a chaperone!
