The Salvation Army of Porter County is requesting help with their Red Kettle Collections for the 2009 Christmas Season. Major Jon Welch states, “We need volunteer bell ringers to assist us in standing at the Porter County local business sites. The funds we raise will help us help Porter County residents for Christmas, year-round emergency assistance and keep the Army operating in Porter County. This is our main fund raiser for the year and we need to make the most of this time.” The Army’s Red Kettle Goal for this year is $130,000 and the total Christmas Goal is $200,000.
Positions are available for Mondays through Saturdays beginning November 13th to December 24th . Persons can apply at The Salvation Army Corps Community Center, 799 Capital Rd., South Haven, call 762-9191 or you can setup your volunteer time and locations on www.saportercounty.org and look for the bell.
Christmas helpers are also encouraged to share their talents by playing a musical instrument or singing at the kettle site as well. Clubs, Churches, organizations, families and individuals are all invited to help during this special season. An Orientation Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, November 7th, 2pm at The Salvation Corps for more information.
