Ben Franklin Middle School Finds Alternative to Dances

The staff of Benjamin Franklin Middle School noticed that the attendance on dances seemed to be dropping. So finding an alternative seemed to be the best choice. This year was their Second Annual Drive-In Movie Night. Hundreds of Ben Franklin students gathered to watch "The Little Giants" on the football field of the school. Last year, "Sandlot" was shown. They try to show older films that the students will enjoy. Concessions are provided for the students to enjoy during the film. This seemed to be quite a hit.

The concessions were constantly being visited by students to purchase snacks and refreshments. It is held only for Benjamin Franklin students. Teachers watched the students closely and made sure that they were safe and under control. Blankets were laid out much like the 49-er style with out the cars.

In addition to the film was a fireworks show that was heard from miles away. The students gathered around to enjoy them on the other side of the field. Ben Franklin seems to be on to something good when it comes to having a safe and fun place for students to hang out. Next year will most likely be as successful or more successful than this year was.
