BFMS Football vs. Willowcreek Recap

The 8th grade football team trounced Willowcreek 26-8 Monday to improve to 5-0 on the season and setting up a battle of the unbeatens as Chesterton, also unbeaten, comes to BF next Tuesday. Dustin Barnett led the ground attack with 78 yards rushing. Charles Nagy scored a touchdown on a reverse, finishing the night with a total of 44 yards. Collin Vinyard contributed 43 yards and a score. Steve Massa rushed for 41 yards, scoring one touchdown and adding 2 extra point kicks. The final Viking score came on a 15 yard pass from J.P. Kunze to Drew Paul.

Sean Curtis led the defense with 9 tackles. Other tackle leaders were Michael Girman, Drew Paul, Anthony Castanon, and Evan Bauer. Michael Bezotte did a great job on both sides of the ball. Charles Nagy had the games lone interception.The offensive and defensive line did a great job again as they have done all season. Congratulation on a great game.The seventh grade football team lost to Willowcreek by a score of 20-14 after a fourth quarter comeback fell short. The team played well and improved as the game progressed.

DaCota Overland and Tyler Gall scored touchdowns for the offense, while Dylan Johnson added a two-point conversion run. Overland was the leading rusher with 42 yards, 32 of which came on his touchdown run. Matt Billings, Johnson, and Gall also carried the ball for positive gains. Tyler Gall completed 4 passes on the night for 43 yards. Jared Lasky caught two passes, while Overland and Johnson each caught one. Overland completed an 18 yard halfback pass to Gall for the other completion on the night. On defense, Josh Mears and Hunter Blanchard led the way with six tackles each. Zac Bauer, Spencer Dumas, and Billings were the other defensive leaders for the night. Billings, Gall, and Johnson each returned kickoffs for over 10 yards. Lasky and Joseph Grcich each recovered Willowcreek fumbles. Great effort, boys!
