BFMS Girls Basketball Recap: vs. Portage Fegely

Yesterday another pair of losses from last year were avenged by our 8th graders with a good victory over Portage Fegely.

The girls got off to a good start with five girls scoring in the first quarter and then maintained a lead throughout the game.  Lisa Kay followed yesterday's double-double with another one as she scored 13 and pulled down 12 rebounds.  Alaina and Kristina followed her in both rebounding and scoring and Kris was again the steadying force whenever the game got tight.

Other scores and contributors were: Rachel Combs, Mackenzie Trott, Kate Ingram, A'teeva Knox, Natalie Matuska and especially Titi Lara who came in and supplied a great effort when needed most.  Congratulations and good luck tomorrow when BF hosts TJ.  The girls would also like to thank their classmates that stayed and provided some encouragement from the stands and hope a few more will stay for the TJ game.

Eight girls scored in the 33-7 victory by the 8th Grade Girls “B” Basketball team over Portage Fegely.  Mackenzie Trott was the leading scorer with 12 points followed by Melissa Szmagaj with 6. Nat Matuska led the defense with 6 rebounds.

The 7th Girls "B" Basketball Team dominated Portage Fegely last night as they came away with a 32-10 victory.

Rushelle Miller had her best game of the season collecting (5) steals, (3) rebounds, and (6) points.  Nine of twelve girls made the scoring column showing our team balance.  Mary Jancovich pulled down (6) rebounds, while Abbie Barton and Meredith Hite had (4) apiece.  Gabby Bengs passed out (5) assists.

Katie, Gabby, Sam, Cylie, Carolyn, Megan, and Becca all contributed to the win.

It should have never been that close when a last second phantom foul shot gifted Fegely a 21-20 win over the 7th grade A-Team last night. Scoring six points for BF were Lauren Caputo, Kassie Feczko and Kayla Gates. Julia Dalton rounded out the scoring with two.

Karli and Kassie combined for eleven rebounds. It wasn’t pretty.
