Blue Chip Receives Volunteer Company of Year Award at State United Way Conference

Blue-Chip-AwardBlue Chip Casino, Hotel and Spa was recognized as a Volunteer Company of the Year at the Indiana Association of United Ways State Leaders Conference on March 13 in Indianapolis.

Blue Chip's 2013 employee campaign raised more than $65,000 and the business provided another $100,000 in corporate support for United Way fundraising events.

"Blue Chip is a leading financial contributor to United Way of La Porte County and is consistently one of our local Cornerstone Businesses," said Kris Pate, executive director.

Blue Chip Assistant General Manager Jack Elia accepted the award at the state United Way awards banquet. Elia is a member of the United Way board of directors and is instrumental in enlisting other Blue Chip employees to serve at events, on allocations panels, and as loaned executives.

"Our parent company, Boyd Gaming, has a long history of supporting United Way and we are honored to have them as our charity of choice," Elia said.

Throughout the year, Blue Chip donates food, clothing and office equipment to meet the needs of United Way community partner agencies.
