Board & Brush Creative Studio celebrates grand reopening at Valparaiso location with ribbon cutting ceremony

Painting is more than simply an art process. It’s a way for people to tell stories and express their emotions through a visual display. At Board & Brush Creative Studio, customers across 191 studios in the United States are presented with an opportunity to create custom wood signs and put together unique crafts that people can cherish for a lifetime.

On Thursday, June 12, the studio in Valparaiso celebrated a grand reopening of its location. Cortney Bower, owner of Board & Brush Creative Studio in Valparaiso, is excited to see the space with its brand new look for the customers.

“It means a lot, because this has been a journey,” Bower said. “It's a new beginning, a fresh start, and a new journey overall. We’ve provided an updated environment, so it feels more like home. We’re collaborating with a lot of business tonight, and some in the upcoming months to bring new projects to the studio. I’m incredibly happy to celebrate it with everybody here.”

Board & Brush Creative Studio is more than just a place for people to come and paint. It offers a wide variety of hands-on, private experiences such as workshops, private parties, bridal showers, bachelorette gatherings, children’s birthday bashes, corporate events, and fundraisers. The mission of the business is to turn its customers into do-it-yourself masters.

This grand reopening celebration marks a moment of reimagination for Board & Brush in Valparaiso. Not only will it spark new opportunities, but also a way to carry out the traditional studio activities in a new and improved way.

“I see this as a sense of family,” Bower said. “I am a mother of two kids, and just being able to create memories with somebody having birthday parties here, whether you’re 9 or 90 years old, and being able to provide those memories through something special here, that’s what we’re looking. We want a sense of community and togetherness that’s fun for everyone.”

Staff members and people throughout the community gathered together with the Valpo Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting ceremony to honor the reopening. Attendees were also presented with a few giveaway opportunities.

“We have 25 goodie bags for the first 25 people who show up tonight,” Bower said. “We’re also doing raffle drawings every 10 minutes for additional giveaways, along with one that can win you a table for six.”

While Board & Brush had a creative vision for this redevelopment, it wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of the designers who contributed to the updated studio look.

“They’re my rocks. They’re my everything,” Bower said. “The staff has been great when it comes to the transition of everything, welcoming and embracing us. As much as I might be teaching them, they’re teaching me as well. We’re bringing new ideas, including a lot of condensed workshops being offered. Anywhere from doormats to clocks on the wall, we have different price points between large and small crafts. We couldn’t have done that before, so it’s very exciting for us.”

Refurbishing the Valparaiso studio has been on the agenda for a while at Board & Brush, with a goal to make sure the studio provides a comfortable atmosphere for the customer experience.

Free drinks and light refreshments were provided for the attendees from El Salto, Beggars Pizza, and Austyn & Allie’s Treats. Following the ribbon cutting, people were welcomed inside for a chance to see the renovated studio for themselves.

Event attendees were also given a code to sign up for 40% off on a DIY Wood Sign & Wood Project Workshop at the studio. For more information on Board & Brush Creative Studio, you can visit boardandbrush.com.
