The Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County was recently awarded a $4,000 grant to help expand their National Fine Arts programs. For over 30 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County has participated in the National Fine Arts Contests with BGCA, where artwork from four age divisions and 10 mediums go through a series of local, regional and national judging and exhibition rounds before resting finally in a virtual gallery on BGCA’s public Web site, www.bgca.org.

Members are exposed to a broad range of arts education activities and are continually encouraged to develop new skills and talents, express themselves and expand their individual creativity. A variety of mediums are available to members including painting, photography, clay, and mixed media.

This summer, the club plans to expand their fine arts program throughout the entire organization by offering special art workshops at each of the clubs in Valparaiso, Portage, South Haven and Chesterton.
