Boys & Girls Clubs Members Team with Duneland Kiwanis and Wendy’s for the ELIMINATE Project

bgcpc-eliminate-2014Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County – Duneland Unit’s Torch Club members are dedicating the entire month of March to raise money for the ELIMINATE Project.

Collaborating with Duneland Kiwanis and Wendy’s in Chesterton, fifty Frosty ice cream snacks were donated to the Torch Club to sell in the Club’s Snack Shack. Each day, the Club’s Snack Shack will be selling different items and earmarking funds to help eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. For every $1.80 raised by Torch Club members through Snack Shack sales, a life will be saved by providing tetanus shots to expectant mothers.

In celebration of National Boys & Girls Clubs Week, Duneland Unit Torch Club members will be presenting a check of funds to the Duneland Kiwanis Club on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at noon.

“Our members are very excited about the fact that every $1.80 they raise saves the life of a child whose mother receives a tetanus shot. I have kids saying to me every day, ‘I saved a life today!’” states Joe Juarez, Duneland Unit Director for Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County.
