Brummitt Elementary celebrated reading in many ways during NEA's Read Across America Week. Students were invited to dress as their favorite book character and dress as a superhero because "Reading Gives You Superpowers." Students were also asked to bring their favorite book to school to share with their class (shown in picture). The school also asked friends and family from across the country to send a postcard telling their favorite children's book with the hope of getting a postcard from all 50 states. The only states the school was missing were Mississippi and New Hampshire! Brummitt invited community helpers, school administrators/staff members, and business people in the area to read to the students during an event the school called "Read Across Chesterton."
