Bucher Tech Welcomes Aboard Their New IT Interns, Cameron Gall and Bill Morgan

Valparaiso local Bucher Tech has some new, young talent on board! Two new interns recently signed on to absorb all IT knowledge they can and to set strong foundations for their careers. The two interns were interviewed by ValpoLife to help introduce them to their new company.

What made you chose a career in IT?
Cameron Gall: "I enjoy solving complicated problems, which made me consider a career in IT. Also, every day is unique. Technology changes so fast that you must continually educate yourself to stay informed. Being able to work at different places and with different people is my favorite part about this job. The IT field is growing and presents many opportunities to work in different industries."

Bill Morgan: "Since I was young, I have had a fascination with computers. I was first exposed to computers and technology when my father introduced me to some games on the old family computer when I was little. From there, I experimented with the family machine, learned how to navigate Windows 98 from my dad, and continued to gain knowledge and passion for the field of study. As I aged, I became a big fan of video games as a teenager and was eventually introduced to PC gaming. When I was in high school, a friend taught me how to build my own machine from parts I picked out online. Throughout the rest of my high school experience, I learned how to maintain and optimize my hardware for peak performance. Some people may call that boring or too much work, but I found it fun to do. It was at that point I decided to study Computer Information Technology at college in order to prepare for an IT career."

What schools have you attended?
CG: "I attended Andrean High School in Merrillville, IN. I am currently a senior at Ball State University, studying computer information systems and computer security. I am a member of Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity and The Association of Information Technology Professionals."

BM: "I attended Wheeler High School and the Porter Country Career and Technical Center for my high school education. There, I studied Computer Aided Design (CAD) and learned how to architecturally design buildings, create animated movies, or lay out arenas for video games such as Quake 3. I am currently attending Purdue University Northwest where I study Computer Information Technology. Attending Purdue has enabled me to learn concepts and procedures that I have already found useful for my position at BucherTech, and I am excited to be exposed to more material in my coming Junior and Senior years."

What do you hope to learn at Bucher Tech as an intern?
CG: "While I have learned a lot over my three plus years at Ball State, most of my classes are based around the business side of Information Technology. There are limited opportunities to physically work with different types of hardware and software in a classroom. During my time at BucherTech, I hope to gain more technical skills that I can use in the future. I have already learned a lot about computer hardware, software, and networks in my few weeks as an intern. Working with actual customers in a business setting is extremely valuable experience that cannot be replaced with any amount of schooling."

BM: "I hope to learn valuable skills that will prove useful in my future career outside of college. Getting this real-world experience while I am still in school is a great opportunity to gain business experience so that I will already have a taste of what to expect of future work in the field of Information Technology."
