Calumet College of St. Joseph to offer free summer camps for students in grades one through 12

Students interested in learning more about math, media, or playing sports can find a place at Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ) in one of its free summer courses. Each class takes place during the months of June or July and will fill students' schedules while expanding their knowledge – all without spending a dime.

For students in grades one through six, a Summer Enrichment Math and Reading Program will take place from June 27 through July 21, Monday through Thursday from 9:15 a.m. to noon. Breakfast and lunch will be served at each session courtesy of the School City of Hammond Summer Nutrition Program.

For students in grades six through eight interested in sports, the Mindful Athletes Sports Camp (MASC) is the perfect fit. The program will run from late June through early July, and will teach students foundational skills for sports along with mindfulness practice to elevate students’ athletic and academic performance. The class will run for four hours a day with five sports over five days. Sports covered include soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country, and football. Light snacks and water will be provided.

The MASC class will be in partnership with Maroon Village, which emphasizes the cultivation of healthy environments for student-athletes to promote resiliency for academic and athletic success through performance training, yoga, mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork. More information will be announced at a later date.

High school students interested in learning more about media can participate in the Tekon CCSJ Summer Media Camp, which runs from July 25 - 29. The week-long program will offer intensive training in digital media and literacy and will expand on topics including Adobe Photoshop, social justice, and servant leadership at CCSJ.

No matter the age group or interest, CCSJ has a class for your student to thrive. Opportunities for free and engaging summer courses are few and far between, and the stellar lineup of summer courses at CCSJ are a fantastic opportunity for your student to be able to engage and learn with their peers while school is out of session.More information will be released at a later date.
