Calvary Church to Host Carnival-Style Event

VBS-2013VALPARAISO Calvary Church, 1325 Evans Ave, will host a carnival-style Family Fun Night on Thursday, July 18. The free event runs 5:45 to 815 pm and is open to the community.

Family Fun Night features both indoor and outdoor activities. “We’ve got bounce houses, music, food, balloon artists, air-brush face painting, to name a few things,” said Victoria Evans-Peasley, director of children’s ministries. “The most fun will be the dunk tank where kids can dunk Calvary pastors and their teachers from the week’s Vacation Bible School.” Kids receive a free hot dog meal while supplies last.

The event caps the church’s Vacation Bible School program, Turn It Up, which runs Monday, July 15 through Wednesday, July 17 from 5:45 to 8:15 pm. Turn It Up presents God’s story from beginning to end. “God has one big story to tell—the Bible—and it all connects together,” said VBS coordinator, Ashley Rice. “We want kids to discover how they are part of the story, too.”

Calvary offers a free VBS program every year in keeping with their mission, “all kids included.” “VBS is our biggest ministry event for kids every year,” Evans-Peasley said. “We don’t want any child to miss out because of cost.” The Family Fun Night concept was built into this year’s program to give families a safe, fun evening out, she said.

Registration information for VBS is available on the church website (calvaryweb.net).
