I love Paul's words to the Corinthians: "We work with you for your joy" (2 Cor. 1:24). It’s a team effort. Paul is working alongside some other committed folks (“we”), and he’s calling on people to do their part (“with you”). And the end of all this working is our joy and of course the glory of God. I'm so thankful for the team around me, and we are all working with YOU for your joy.
We are working hard to provide many opportunities for you to increase your joy. If you are new here, increase your joy by becoming part of our church community. Starting Point class starts this Sunday. Or maybe you’ve been thinking you need to make some changes in your financial life for your own joy. This fall, three top-notch financial professionals, who are also Calvary members, will guide you through Financial Peace University. (I really can’t say enough good things about this opportunity! Don’t miss it!) Or maybe you need some wisdom for loving your aging family members. The upcoming panel discussion on this topic with our Elder Chair (and expert elder-law attorney), Jon Costas, will help you love your family with compassion and wisdom.
I want to say a huge thank you to all those who are working with me for the joy of God's people, and I don't mean just our staff. There are hundreds of humble volunteer ‘ministers’ serving at Calvary. Some of you teach classes, some of you greet newcomers, some of you lead Life Groups, some of you hand out bulletins and help people find seats, and some of you change diapers in the nursery (which is for everyone's joy!)
