This Sunday we are going to eat and drink together. Get here early--get a good seat--and be ready for the next sermon in our worship series. It's called a lot of different things--the Lord's Supper, Communion, the Eucharist (I will talk about these terms Sunday). But most importantly it is a time for us to get together and celebrate the Christ who gave his life for us. You’re gonna love the format this week! We are going to sing and give and hear the word, and then we will eat and drink together and sing some more. I can't wait.
I arrived at the office a little after 6 this morning--and before settling into my study to work, I walked down to the other end of the church to say hi to the homeless men we shelter in partnership with other local churches. Tuesday night is our night and several of our members volunteer staying here in shifts at the church during the night to provide a place for homeless men in our community to sleep. As I walked in this morning my heart was filled with joy to see two of our men on the morning shift enjoying a hot breakfast with about 15 homeless men. I love, love, love being part of a church like this!
Hey, don't forget to hang out in the gym after the 9a and 10:45a service to say farewell to the Nack family as they get ready for their new ministry in California. There will be after-service refreshments for everyone!

Nack Family Bon Voyage
After each service this Sunday, 10.14 the Nacks will be in the gym to enjoy fellowship time and light refreshments with the church family. Come help us send them off with warm wishes and encouragement for their journey as Pastor Cary begins his new position with RiverLakes Community Church in Bakersfield, California.

Catalyst for Kids
The Catalyst for Kids course (for kids 8-12) focuses on God’s character, salvation, baptism, and following God’s plan. This is a terrific course for those children interested in being baptized, as well as for those desiring a solid foundation on each week’s topics. This 4-week course meets at 9a or 10:45a in room 110 each Sunday, 10.14 thru 10.28. Register your child by email (please include name, grade, and age of child). There is still time to join this course.
Girlfriends of Grace
The Oasis event, designed to offer the women of Calvary refreshment in mind, body, and spirit, will be held this Friday, 10.12 at 7p. You’re invited to bring a craft/hobby project to keep your hands busy while you catch up with old friends and make new ones. Reliant & Connect Student Ministries
Tonight 10.10, Middle School Students (Grades 6-8), join us from 6-7:45p. We meet every other Wednesday for activities, Bible lesson, and connect time with youth leaders!
High School Teen Covenant Groups are getting started this week. Next week the Middle School Teen Covenant Groups will begin.
Our last college fair trip was such a success, we're doing it again Tuesday 10.16! Juniors and Seniors have first chance to sign-up, but then sign-ups will be opened up to Freshmen and Sophomores.
All Middle School students are invited to join Connect Student Ministries for a bonfire Saturday, 10.20 from 6-9p. Hot dogs and S'mores will be provided.
